Steph Curryis revealing the secret to keeping his marriage strong.
While speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of his animated film,GOAT, on Friday, Feb. 6, the Golden State Warriors star, 37, said that he and wifeAyesha Curryalways encourage "honest communication" with each other to maintain their healthy marriage.
"It sounds kind of cheesy, but it's really a foundation," Curry, who appears with his wife in the new movie, tells PEOPLE. "We built that over time, where you can say whatever is on your mind and it doesn't come off as a personal attack or anything."
"Life is hard and you're trying to, you know, handle all the stress and especially as parents, too. But if you can prioritize that, then prioritize each other as much as possible, that's the foundation," he adds.

Speaking with PEOPLE separately at the premiere, Ayesha, 36, added that the pair also "make time for date nights" to keep the romance going.
"Even if it's a night like this, like, that's a date night for us, and so we just make sure that that togetherness and that foundation of why we started this life together in the first place is always at the core of it," she says.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2011 and sharefour children, are appearing in a film together for the first time inGOAT. The animated movie follows a goat named Will (voiced byStranger ThingsstarCaleb McLaughlin), who dreams of becoming a pro at "roarball," along with the fastest and fiercest animals in the world.

Steph, who plays giraffe Lenny Williamson in the film, said that he had some helpful tips from his acting wife while working on the movie.
"She's been doing it her whole life. And for the first session we had, she went first and I got to sit in and watch her work and it kind of broke the ice a little bit," he tells PEOPLE. "But once you're in there ... I didn't realize how physical it was. It's not like you're just talking, but you gotta really be in that moment [which was] fun."
As for working on a possible live-action movie together in the future, the NBA star said he is definitely open to it.
"Possibly. I do but I want to make sure [its] the right parts," says Steph. "Like I don't want to force it. That's how all this stuff was happening, just natural as I got opportunity and being around a lot of people. So Ayesha will see…"
In July 2025, Steph and Ayeshacelebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. This came four years after the couple, who met at high school in North Carolina, revealed they hadrenewed their vowsto mark a decade of marriage after tying the knot on July 30, 2011.
They are parents to daughters Riley, 13, and Ryan, 10, sons Canon, 7, and Caius, who turns 2 in May.
