Champions Cup preview: English clubs aim to end recent French dominance of prestigious competition - as Bath kick off 30th anniversary edition against La Rochelle
Bath have the honour of hosting a launch party tonight, for the 30th anniversary edition of what was once the European Cup, but is now an unwieldy, inter-hemisphere event. La Rochelle's visit to The Rec will serve as a momentous Investec Champions Cup opener for the current Premiership leaders, before the rest of the English contenders set about the arduous task of trying to break the recent cycle of French dominance.

Out-of-contract XI: Liverpool's title-chasing trio, the former heir to Lionel Messi and the most expensive defender of all time... the stars set to be free agents next summer
The landmark 1995 Bosman ruling immortalised an otherwise obscure Belgium footballer and changed the sport he played forever. In the 21 years that have followed, the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Andrea Pirlo, Sol Campbell and even Lionel Messi have all utilised this freedom. Will the names of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah be added to this list next year? The terrifying prospect moves closer to a reality for Liverpool as January 1 approaches and the trio are able to agree pre-contracts with foreign clubs.

Nikita Hand WINS £1.25m costs from Conor McGregor in landmark ruling after he 'scandalised' Irish High Court and 'attacked the jury' by calling her a 'liar' in wild social media rant after losing rape case
Conor McGregor was humiliated today after he was ordered to pay Nikita Hand's entire £1.25million (€1.5m) costs for bringing a civil rape claim against him. McGregor, who must also hand her £210,000 (€250,000) in damages, may also face further punishment including a severe fine because the MMA star branded her a 'vicious liar' after losing the civil case in Dublin 13 days ago. In a landmark ruling this afternoon, Ms Hand will also not have to pay his friend James Lawrence's legal costs, even though she lost her claim against him for assault.

Kai Havertz claims quitting Chelsea for rivals Arsenal was 'the best thing he's ever done'
Kai Havertz has called his decision to move across London from Chelsea to Arsenal 'the best decision' of his career in a new interview. The Gunners forward arrived at the start of the 2023-24 season as Mikel Arteta's side sort to sharpen their attack in preparation for another title-chasing campaign. The Germany international took a little time to settle at the Emirates, perhaps somewhat burdened by his £65million price tag and hungover from a mixed stint at Stamford Bridge where multiple managers had stuggled to find the right position to play the forward in.
