The "Gimme More" singer, 44, shared a post to Instagram on Sunday, Dec. 28 that featured a photo of a Christmas tree and a caption that seemingly offered a sarcastic acknowledgement of her family's holiday plans.

"Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can't fix…," she wrote. "To my dear sweet innocent family … so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon … I can't wait."

Britney concluded her note with a hello to Jamie Lynn's "beautiful" 7-year-old daughter Ivey, writing, "I just want to hold you, my love … Godspeed, friends."

A source previously told PEOPLE that Britneyspent Christmas with her son Jayden, 19, whom she shares with ex-husbandKevin Federline.

"Britney had a fun time celebrating Christmas with Jayden — it's been such a special holiday," the source said.

Preston, 20, meanwhile, spent Christmas with his grandma Lynne, 70, aunt Jamie Lynn, 34, and Jamie Lynn'sdaughters Maddie, 17, and Ivey, as seen in a photo theZoey 101star shared to Instagram.

Britney has been open in the past about her conflicting feelings toward her family members, and wrote of their complicated bond in her 2023 memoirThe Woman in Me.

In the book, the singer said her"heart goes out" to Jamie Lynnfor growing up in her shadow and for being a child of divorce.

"She will always be my sister, and I love her and her beautiful family. I'm working to feel more compassion than anger toward her, and toward everyone who I feel has wronged me. It's not easy," Britney wrote.

Jamie Lynn, meanwhile, told PEOPLE in 2022 that she'd "only ever tried to be helpful" when it came to Britney's conservatorship situation.

Britney and her motherspent the star's birthday togetherin 2023, with a source telling PEOPLE at the time that while Britney was "still hurt, because she feels like her mom could have done more to help her," Lynne was "really making an effort to be in Britney's life."

In November, Federline revealed that Britneyhad been in contact with both of her sonsafter the release of Federline's memoirYou Thought You Knew.

"They absolutely love their mom, right? I mean, they always, always have, always will," he said onTalk Shop Live. "It's instilled in them. And I've always wanted for them to have a connection with their mom, the way I have with my mom."
