Death toll in UPS plane crash in Kentucky rises to 15

A 15th person has died as a result of theUPS plane crashin Kentucky in November.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced the updated death toll on Thursday.

"It is with great sadness that I just learned Alain Rodriguez Colina has passed,"Greenberg wrote on X."Alain is the 15th victim of the UPS Flight 2976 accident."

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear also addressed Colina's death inan X post on Thursday evening.

"Let's pray for these families today and in the days, months and years to come so they know they are not alone and they are loved."

Colina's death came on Christmas Day, just over seven weeks after he suffered severe injuries from the plane crash.

On Nov. 4,UPS Flight 2976 crashedas it was taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport for Honolulu.

The aircraft's left engine caught fire during takeoff and immediately detached from the wing,according to Kentucky officials.

The plane then crashed into a series of buildings near the airport, destroying the surrounding area.
