OnFriday, Dec. 26, Lee's friends andfamilyshared onInstagramthat she had passed away following a series of cardiac arrests after experiencing complications from the flu.
"With profound sadness, thefamilyof Mickey Lee announces her transitionon Christmasin the early evening," the post read.
"Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance onBig Brother, where her authenticity, strength, and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike," the post continued. "She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed on and off screen. Mickey's light, legacy, and impact will never be forgotten."
In hertributeto Lee shared that same day, theBig Brotherhost said that Lee told her she was born with a hole in her heart during an appearance on Chen Moonves' podcastGod 101.
Soon after Chen Moonves shared that information, fans began wondering if the heart complication contributed to her death at age 35. However, two days later on Sunday, Dec. 28, Chen Moonves said she spoke to Lee's family who confirmed the hole in her heart had since closed.
"To all those praying for Mickey's family and loved ones, we want you to know that they clarified the hole in her heart did close, so that did not contribute to her passing," Chen Moonves captioned avideoof she and Lee chatting on her podcast. "In her memory, here is a portion of the interview where she reveals it while talking about being a woman of God. You are loved Mickey and we will never forget you. Rest inpeacedear Mickey 🙏🏼🪽."
