Chrissy Teigenhas gone sober again — and she is creditingSummer HousestarCarl Radkefor his support in her sobriety journey.
Teigen, 40, shared the update about her sobriety in a deeply personalInstagrampost on Tuesday, Jan. 27. She previously went public about herchoice to abstain from alcohol in 2021.
"I am grateful to@carlradke," the model began in the social media post, which showed screenshots of her and Radke, 41, discussing their journeys on herSelf-Consciouspodcast. "Not for just all the years on Bravo he has blessed us with, but because of his honesty and openness around his own journey with sobriety."
"As you know, I've had my own. After being sober for a little over a year, I went back to drinking. I promised myself it would be in a 'mindful' way. I wanted to be able to have a glass of wine on a date night with my husband," Teigen, who later revealed she is now 52 days sober, elaborated. "To be able to toast on birthdays. How lucky I am to have the life I have — I want to enjoy it!"
"I think that was my first problem," Teigen reflected. "Tying drinking to reward or like some sort of life prize. Soon it became the kind of drinking I'm all too familiar with. Quiet moments at home were for wine. The time went from 6pm, to 5, to 4, to aw hell, it's lunch, why not. When it got to 11am, I was like, oh f--k, here we go again."Radke also opened up about his personal journey on the podcast episode titled "Carl Radke: Sobriety, Addiction, and Identity."
"Maybe there is someone who watches our show who relates to my story, and if I'm just honest and open and sharing loudly, if someone can be helped or be inspired," he said, as seen in a still featured in Teigen's post. "That's why I'm doing it."
Radke previously shared thathe turned to alcohol and cocaineto cope with the death of hisolder brother Curtis, who diedin September 2020 following a lifelong battle with mental health issues and addiction.
In her post on Tuesday, Teigen noted that she understands she is "a whole ass mom," adding, "We aren't talking the kind of drinking where you slur your words and miss a step on the stairs. It was just quiet and consistent."
Teigen, who sharesdaughter Luna, 9, son Miles, 7, daughter Esti, 3, and son Wren, 1,with her husbandJohn Legend, then confessed, "And God, I felt like s---. I missed being able to pick up my keys for a last-minute grocery run. But it wasn't messy enough yet to stop."The television personality said that the same week she began talking to Radke about sobriety, she quit drinking again. "I had been in talks forStar Searchand knew that if I were given the incredible chance to be on the show, there was absolutely no f---ing way I'd do it with alcohol in my dressing room," Teigen continued.

"The first time I put my foot down, it was EXCITING. The momentum was fun and kept me going on the right track. The second time… I dunno. I dunno if everyone around you kind of loses faith or if you do yourself, or a mix of both. Or maybe no one wants to get too excited. Like an old boyfriend you talked so much s--t about to your friends, then you get back together with them and everyone just stops caring because who knowwwwws what's gonna happen next," Teigen explained.
Noting her 52nd day of sobriety, Teigen wrote that she has "no desire to turn back."
"Turns out, without it, I can still be funny. Still be stupid. Still be wildly nervous. Anxious as a mother f-----. And I can get through it all without it," she added.
Legend, 47, showed support for his wife in the comments with red heart emojis.
