It's been over five years since fans leftSchitt's Creek, and it's still one of TV's most-watched comfort comedies.
What began as a modest Canadian series on CBC grew into a record-breaking Emmy powerhouse, launching some cast members to new heights while reintroducing beloved stars to new audiences. Two of its stars,Eugene Levyand his sonDan Levy, wrote and co-created the hit sitcom about a wealthy family who lost everything overnight and are forced to move into a motel in a sleepy, rural town.
The Levys decided to end the series after season 6 so it could go out on a high note, and a high note it was.Schitt's Creekbroke a record at the 2020 Emmys for the most wins for a comedy in one season. As Eugene toldThe New York Timesin January 2020, "Isn't that the perfect way to go?"
SinceSchitt's Creekwrapped in 2020, each cast member has pursued a variety of impressive projects, ranging from documenting travels around the globe to releasing a graphic novel. Sadly, one of the series' beloved actresses,Catherine O'Hara,died in January 2026at the age of 71.
Here's everything the cast ofSchitt's Creekhas been up to since they left everyone's favorite small town.
Eugene Levy as Johnny Rose
Eugene, who is known for roles inAmerican Pie,National Lampoon's VacationandCheaper By the Dozen 2, was not only one of the major stars ofSchitt's Creek— he also wrote the show with his son, Dan. The father and son, who are from Toronto, dreamed up Eugene's beloved character Johnny Rose, a rich CEO who becomes a small business owner. When they created the show, the duo were excited about the idea of a dramatic fall from riches to rags, perVanity Fair.
AfterSchitt's Creek, the actor challenged himself with a different kind of series,The Reluctant Traveler. The Apple TV show premiered in February 2023 and features his travels to Costa Rica, Italy, South Africa, Japan and more. Eugene told PEOPLE, "I stilldon't think I'm an adventurous person, but I'm doing the best I can. I think this show is good for me."
In addition to his global adventures, Eugene also appeared inKacey Musgraves'Star-Crossed: The Filmand in a 2022 Nissan Super Bowl commercial alongside Marvel actorsDanai Gurira,Dave BautistaandBrie Larson. He and Dan also co-wrote a behind-the-scenesSchitt's Creekcoffee table book in October 2021.
The comedian maintains a close relationship with his kids — his daughter,Sarah Levy, also appeared onSchitt's Creek. "It's one of the true joys of my life that I got the chance to work on a day-to-day basis with my children," he toldThe Guardianin March 2023. "I always used to envy friends in different professions … with family businesses."
Catherine O'Hara as Moira Rose
By the time she starred as former daytime soap opera star Moira Rose onSchitt's Creek, O'Hara was already a TV and film veteran famous for projects likeBeetlejuice, theHome Alonemovies andThe Nightmare Before Christmas. In the documentaryBest Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt's Creek Farewell, it was revealed that she originallyturned down the roleof Moira, but Dan urged Eugene to keep trying.
When shewon a Golden Globefor Best Performance by an Actress in a television series in 2021, the Toronto-born actress praised Eugene and Dan for creating "an inspiring, funny, beautiful family love story in which they let me wear 100 wigs and speak like an alien." She added, "It's an experience I will forever hold dear to my heart."
After playing the wig-bearing matriarch, O'Hara lent her voice to animated projects like the 2021 filmExtinctand the seriesThe Last Kids on EarthandCentral Park.The actress's Pixar filmElementalwasreleased in June 2023, and she reprised herBeetlejuicerole in the film's sequel,Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,in 2024. Shereunited with Danat Paris Fashion Week in March 2023, and he shared a photo of the two onInstagram.
O'Hara was married to production designerBo Welchfrom 1992 until her death in 2026. They shared two sons, and she joked toE! Newsin November 2021 that she forced them to watchHome Aloneevery year.
Dan Levy as David Rose
Though Dan previously had success as host ofThe Hills: The After Showfor MTV Canada and onDegrassi: The Next Generation,Schitt's Creekwas his breakout role. The actor partnered with his father to create the show, in which he starred as David Rose, the cynical and hilarious owner of Rose Apothecary.
In April 2020, Dan toldVarietythat his idea for the series came during a cafe brainstorming session. "I had come out of MTV, I had made a name for myself," the actor recalled. "But that, in a way, made me feel okay with going to my dad for this idea. So I went to him with this idea of a wealthy family losing their money and said, 'Do you want to work on this with me?' And he said, 'Yes.' "
Since wrapping his hit show, Dan has worked on a variety of on-screen projects and off-screen ventures. In October 2022, heannounced his directorial debutwith the Netflix comedyGood Grief. He also stepped into unscripted TV with his HBO Max cooking competition showThe Big Brunch, which aired in November 2022.
Dan starred in the HBO seriesThe IdolalongsideThe WeekndandLily-Rose Depp. He also appeared in season 4 of Netflix'sSex Educationin September 2023.
Annie Murphy as Alexis Rose
BeforeSchitt's Creekcame along,Annie Murphyhad "$3 in [her] bank account" and "hadn't worked in close to two years," according to her January 2020 interview onThe Kelly Clarkson Show. Fortunately, the perfect role came along at the perfect time, and the Ottawa-raised actress began playing Alexis Rose, a socialite who learns to embrace small-town life.
In April 2018, Murphy revealed toVulturethat she had also auditioned for the part of Stevie Budd. "But as soon as I met Emily [Hampshire], I was like, 'Why on earth would these people entertain the idea of anyone else playing this part?' " the actress recalled. "She blows it out of the water."
Murphy has been married to Canadian musicianMenno Versteegsince 2011, and the pair co-wrote Murphy's character's song, "A Little Bit Alexis." He called the musical collaboration a "once-in-a-lifetime experience."
Over the past few years, she's continued to star in TV shows likeRussian DollandKevin Can F**k Himself, as well as in the filmRuby Gillman, Teenage Kraken,released in June 2023.

Emily Hampshire as Stevie Budd
While she was playing the sarcastic Rosebud Motel employee-turned-owner Stevie Budd onSchitt's Creek,Emily Hampshirewas also working on the SyFy drama12 Monkeys. Since both shows ended, she's kept up a busy filming schedule.
The Montreal-born actress has taken on the role of a governess in the Epix horror seriesChapelwaiteand the role of a scientist and oil company representative in the Prime Video dramaThe Rig. She's also worked on the filmsThe End of Sex,Self RelianceandBloody Hell.
In September 2021, Hampshire revealed to pop starDemi Lovatothat aSchitt's Creekscene helped herunderstand her sexuality. "[David Rose] says, ultimately he likes the wine, not the label, and that he's pansexual. I had never heard the word pansexual before," she shared on the podcast4D with Demi Lovato. She added that when she asked Dan what her sexual orientation was, he responded: "You're pansexual. Don't you watch our show?"
Though the actress is recognized as an LGBTQ icon following her performance onSchitt's Creek, she told PEOPLE in June 2021 that shewouldn't give herself that label. "I'm Canadian, I could never see myself [that way], or say that I am an icon within this space!" she joked. "We apologize a lot, and mainly for our existence."
When she's not acting, she's storytelling in other ways. Hampshire released her first graphic novel,Amelia Aierwood: Basic Witch, in April 2023. The story is about a famous family of witches who star in their own reality show, and it's partially inspired bythe Kardashians, perEntertainment Weekly.
Chris Elliott as Roland Schitt
Chris Elliott, known forThere's Something About Mary,Groundhog DayandSaturday Night Live, starred as Roland Schitt, the fourth-generation mayor and namesake of Schitt's Creek. Since the CBC series ended, the actor, who was born in New York City to comedianBob Elliottof Bob and Ray, has continued to pursue comedic projects. He played the father of a psychic in the one-season Hulu sitcomMaggie, and he was also part of the 2021 comedyChristmas vs. the Walters.
Elliott is married to fellow actor Paula Niedert Elliott, and they share two children, Bridey Elliott andAbby Elliott. His daughters are also actors, and the family worked together on the 2018 dramedyClara's Ghost.
Noah Reid as Patrick Brewer
OnSchitt's Creek,Noah Reidplayed Patrick Brewer, David's husband and business partner. When PEOPLE asked in February 2022 what other character he would've played, Reid answered, "I would go with Rolandbecause he's got a cool mullet."
After the hit comedy ended, the Toronto-born actor played a darker role in Prime Video's Western thrillerOuter Range.Reid also made his Broadway debut inThe Minutesin April 2022 and released his third album,Adjustments, two months later. The actor also narrated the Audible podcastSleep Sound with Noah Reid.
Reid marriedClare Stone, a nurse and former actress, in July 2020, and they welcomed their first baby two years later. On Nov. 27, 2022, Reidposted a birthday tributefor his wife. "My whole world," he captioned the photo of Stone and their baby on the beach. "Happy 30 my love."
Sarah Levy as Twyla Sands
Sarah, who starred as the bubbly Café Tropical owner Twyla Sands, has had many professional and personal developments in the last few years.
In the SyFy seriesSurrealEstate, the Toronto native joined forces with fellowSchitt's Creekalum Rozon. Sarah shared anInstagram photowith herSurrealEstatecostars in December 2022. "So happy #surrealestate is back for season 2," she wrote in the caption.
In October 2022, Sarah celebrated herfirst wedding anniversarywith her actor and producer husband,Graham Outerbridge. The couplewelcomed their first child, James Eugene Outerbridge, in July 2022. Sarahexplained her son's nameto PEOPLE in September 2022. "Honestly, I could not imagine any other middle name for James," she said. "It was just a nice way to honor my dad."
Dustin Milligan as Ted Mullins
Schitt's Creek's resident veterinarian, Ted Mullens, was brought to life byDustin Milligan, who is originally from Yellowknife, Canada.
In April 2021, he looked back at his career in an interview withBuzzFeed. Asked what audiences may have missed while watchingSchitt's Creek, Milligan said: "I'm a human being and that means that I sweat sometimes. There's a lot of scenes inSchitt's Creekwhere you may not notice this, but I've got papertowels crammed into my armpits."
SinceSchitt's Creekended, the actor has taken on film, television and writing projects. In 2022, he starred inThe People We Hate at the WeddingalongsideKristen Bell. Milligan also played a dogsitter in the 2022 comedyMack & Ritaand a journalist in the short-lived Peacock seriesRutherford Falls.
