Federal law enforcementfatally shot a man in Minneapolisthe morning of Jan. 24, officials said.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said the shooting occurred while Border Patrol officers were conducting an immigration enforcement operation. Federal officials said a man armed with a handgun approached the officers, who fired "defensive shots" after the man resisted an attempt to disarm him.
At a news conference, Minneapolis Police Department Chief Brian O'Hara said his agency responded at 9:03 a.m. to a shooting involving federal law enforcement officers.

Another personhas been fatally shot by federal law enforcementin Minneapolis, officials said on Jan. 24. The shooting comes just over two weeksafter 37-year-old Renee Nicole Goodwas shot in the head by a federal immigration officer in a residential neighborhood south of downtown. At the scene, O'Hara said, police found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Who was shot and killed in Minneapolis?
The name of the man who was shot has not yet been released by officials.
O'Hara told reporters the man is a 37-year-old White man who was a U.S. citizen and Minneapolis resident.
The man had no criminal history, O'Hara said, saying his only interaction with police was for traffic tickets, and was a lawful gun owner who had a current permit to carry a firearm.
Where did the shooting take place?
The shooting took place less than 2 miles south of downtown Minneapolis, in the area of 26th Street West and Nicollet Avenue, city officials said.
