The 35-year-old was named as a starter in the League One clash at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday and decided to stand by his previous decision to not don a poppy. Games taking place across the United Kingdom throughout the remembrance weekend typically see players either wear an armband featuring a poppy or a shirt with the iconic flower etched into it.

There are good ways for an old fighter to tap into lost youth, not that the man on the other end of the phone line would care for such descriptions. He's 64 now, Buster Douglas, but he always feels that bit lighter on his toes when he walks into the Thompson Community Centre in Columbus, Ohio. That is where he works and has done for 10 years. It is also just a couple of miles up the road from the gym where he first laced up gloves as a kid, long before he caused the greatest upset in boxing history.

Thomas Tuchel should have accepted an offer to replace Erik ten Hag as manager of Manchester United, according to agent Pini Zahavi. Tuchel will start work as England boss in January after agreeing to succeed Gareth Southgate last month. The German had been out of work since May when he left Bayern Munich after a trophy-less 14 months. Although he failed to win any silverware with Bayern, Tuchel famously delivered three titles - including the UEFA Champions League - for Chelsea, where he was in charge from January 2021 to September 2022.
