Andy Cole claims Mikel Arteta ‘doesn’t believe’ in Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette

Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Andy Cole has claimed Mikel Arteta ‘doesn’t believe’ in Alexandre Lacazette.
After starting seven straight league games in a row for the Gunners, the Frenchman was an unused substitute as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang started up front in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Leeds United.
Captain Aubameyang netted his first Premier League hat-trick in his favoured central striking role to take his top-flight goal tally to eight, drawing him level with Lacazette for the campaign.

And Cole feels Lacazette would’ve felt hard done by sitting on the bench against Leeds and claimed his manager doesn’t have faith in him.
‘Look at Lacazette and I’m disappointed for him because I don’t think Arteta believes in him,’ Cole told talkSPORT.
‘He’s looking at Aubameyang coming back in after two games on the bench, gets himself a hat-trick… he’ll be saying to himself, ‘that could have been me’.”
Although Lacazette’s contract expires next summer, fellow talkSPORT pundit and ex-Arsenal winger Perry Groves doesn’t want to see the striker let go.
‘As an Arsenal fan, I wouldn’t want him to go,’ Groves added. ‘When he’s playing, if it’s not going right, he gets the hook after an hour or 70 minutes.
‘He’s played seven games on the spin, Arsenal haven’t been great and then you’re playing against Leeds where you know they concede goals for fun and you get left out.
‘He’ll be looking at that thinking, ‘do me a favour, this is the game I should be playing in’.’
