Rafael Nadal’s straightforward procession to the third round of the Australian Open was briefly interrupted by a boisterous female fan who was ejected from the Rod Laver Arena after showing her middle finger to the veteran Spaniard.

The 34-year-old was making short work of his opponent, Michael Mmoh, but a one-sided contest was temporarily halted at the end of the second set by an unruly spectator.

Nadal could only stop and laugh as the fan raised her middle finger at the World No.2, prompting the umpire Fergus Murphy to issue a warning, telling the offender she was ‘holding everyone up’.

The 2009 Australian Open champion proceeded to show off his ball juggling skills while the woman was ejected from the court, denying her the opportunity to witness Nadal closing out an inevitable straight sets victory.

Nadal, ultiamtely showed no signs of the back injury that hindered his preparations as he marched into round three.

The Spanish second seed ran out a convincing 6-1 6-4 6-2 winner against American qualifier.
