Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to call up Manchester United wonderkid Shola Shoretire to first team

Manchester United wonderkid Shola Shoretire is poised to make the step-up to the first team this week after impressing manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 17-year-old has attracted attention from Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich in recent months but Marcus Rashford has helped to persuade the midfielder to stay at Old Trafford, where he recently agreed a pre-contract agreement.
Shoretire is adept on both the wing and as a more traditional no.10 but it’s not just his quality on the ball that has impressed Solskjaer, with the Norwegian said to be taken aback by the midfielder’s maturity and application.
Solskjaer has shown his willingness to blood youngsters during his two years at Old Trafford, with Mason Greenwood, Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams just three examples of the Norwegian’s determination to continue United’s traditions.

Shoretire hit a stunning hat-trick against Blackburn last week to take his tally to the season to five and the Athletic claim he could be called-up to the first team this week.
While ordinarily news of a promising youngster training with the first team would be noteworthy news, it’s all the more significant now given players can not so easily move between squads due to Covid-19 protocols.
That reflects Solskjaer’s determination to give Shoretire a chance to impress and the midfielder could be handed his first team debut if he impresses before the end of the season, with the FA Cup representing his best opportunity for minutes.
United take on West Ham United at Old Trafford tomorrow, where the side will be looking to progress to the sixth round.
The Red Devils last won the competition under Louis van Gaal in 2016, though the Dutchman was sacked 24 hours later and replaced by Jose Mourinho.
