Magnus Carlsen to REJOIN chess tournament following jeans row as organisers perform shock U-turn after champion was booted out of competition

World No 1 chess player Magnus Carlsen has revealed he will return to a major tournament after organisers announced they would relax dress code rules. The Norwegian was defending his World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships in New York on Friday when governing body FIDE told him he could not continue whilst wearing jeans. He said he offered to change his trousers for the following day before being fined and told he needed to change straight away.

In the clip - viewed more than 2million times after being shared on X - Rooney, 39, is wearing a grey tracksuit and baseball cap and can be seen unlocking a door while a woman with strawberry blonde hair waits behind him. The woman's face cannot be seen in the video, which then cuts to Rooney inside the flat as he stands in front of a large TV next to a bare stone wall.

Former international footballer Aleksei Bugayev has been killed while fighting in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, his father confirmed on Monday. The 43-year-old ex-Russia international joined Vladimir Putin's forces just months after being sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking. Bugayev, who represented Russia during the 2004 European Championships and retired in 2010 at the age of 29, was reportedly attempting to sell almost half a kilogram of methylephedrine and could have been sentenced to a total of 20 years had he not pleaded guilty in court.
